Generation Ochi is a YouTube channel focused on anime, created for anime fans around the world. They needed a logo that would represent their channel in the best way, and it was important for them that it would reflect strongly the Japanese culture, will have strong colors and will be inspired by anime or cartoons visual style. In their case, they already had a vision – they wanted an owl, near a bonsai tree, and that the channel name will appear in Japanese letters. Taking consideration of their visual requests, I’ve sketched and illustrated for the clients a few options. While I had a clean, minimalist logo in mind, the client was leaning toward one of my early sketches and asked for us to go with that direction. Together we refined and improved it until we were happy with our final result. We went with hearty, bold colors, and used our crimson red as the round shape behind the owl – a gesture to the Japanese flag.
